An excerpt helps someone decide whether to open an article from a list. It should describe the particular question the article answers, not repeat a generic promise that every post could make. The reader is comparing several items, so a concrete distinction is more useful than a cheerful invitation to discover more.
Consider a post about choosing paint for a bathroom ceiling. An excerpt that says Learn everything you need to know offers little help. A short explanation mentioning condensation, surface preparation and product-label checks tells the reader what is inside. It can be informative without trying to summarize every paragraph or reproduce the conclusion.
WordPress can store a manually written excerpt for a post. Whether it appears depends on the theme and the blocks used in the list. Some layouts generate a shortened passage from the body instead. If the excerpt field is not visible in your editor, inspect the available post settings and preferences rather than assuming the theme cannot display excerpts at all.

Write for the space that actually exists
Preview the archive with realistic neighboring articles. A sentence that looks concise in isolation may be much longer than the surrounding cards. Aim for a complete thought that still works if the design limits its visible length. Avoid putting the only useful detail at the very end of a long sentence that may be truncated.
An excerpt is not automatically the search-engine description for the page. Other tools and search systems can use different text. Write it first for the readers browsing your own site. Also avoid references such as as explained below, because the excerpt may appear somewhere far from the original article body.
Update the excerpt when the article's scope changes. If a post no longer covers a particular method, its card should not continue promising that method. Check the title, image and excerpt as a unit: each should support the same subject without saying exactly the same thing. A useful list lets readers choose with confidence before they spend time opening several unsuitable pages.
